I am adding HVR-1600 cards to my SageTV server. Using the latest drivers pulled from the v4l-dvb mercurial I am seeing issues with both analog capture via svideo and with QAM capturing. Older cx18-ivtv drivers work fine, but have been left behind in favor of v4l drivers.
SageTV released a new beta of their product last night. I upgraded this morning. So far so good, one item of interest is that tweakers of the interface can now make the whole thing exportable! Their studio application now allows for STVi auto creation. This might reduce the need for the Dynamic Menu plugin.

So begins the journey of chronicling my trials with home PVR solutions. I am a user of SageTV on linux distributing to 6 TVs in the home and watching from afar. I’ll post on a variety of topics including setup and usage.
